Finalist in Bluethumb Art Prize 2023

The good news just keeps coming! My drawing ‘Fallen 3’ has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Bluethumb Art Prize, one of 350 finalists selected from 8,000 entries. This is an online prize for Bluethumb artists, with generous prizes in several categories, including a People’s Choice Award. To see the finalists go to the Bluethumb and to vote for me if you feel so inclined go here before 8 November. All the finalists’ work is still for sale online during the prize exhibition.

CanAssist Southern Highlands Botanical Art & Illustration Prize 2023

Two of my drawings have been preselected for the CanAssist Southern Highlands Botanical Art & Illustration Prize and exhibition, held annually in Retford Park, Bowral, NSW, for members of the Botanical Art Society of Australia. I encourage those near or travelling through Bowral in October to visit the exhibition and consider purchasing a unique artwork – the commission on all sales goes to support the valuable work of CanAssist SH. The exhibition is open Thursdays to Sundays, 10am-4pm, from 5 to 29 October, 2023.

Flora 2023 at Holmes à Court Gallery in Perth

Melaleuca ‘Reeve’s Pink’

I’m pleased to have a recent drawing exhibited in Flora: the art and science of the plant 2023 with the Botanical Art Society of Australia, at the Holmes à Court Gallery, Perth. This is the first time the Society has exhibited in Perth, and BASA works are displayed alongside botanical art from local and international artists as well as work from the Janet Holmes à Court Collection. The exhibition runs from 2 September – 14 October 2023, with the gallery open 11am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday.

Finalist in 2023 WAMA Art Prize

My recent drawing of the native Soft Speargrass, Austrostipa mollis, has been selected as a finalist in the 2023 WAMA Art Prize. “The WAMA Art Prize invites a multi-disciplinary range of nature inspired Australian artists, to celebrate their connectivity with nature and raise awareness of the importance of conserving our precious and unique Australian environment. The Prize is a biennial award and exhibition showcasing wildlife and nature-inspired art created on or with paper.” My work will hang alongside other finalists in the Ararat Gallery TAMA from 19 August to 19 November 2023, so drop in for a look if you’re passing through regional Victoria! The exhibition will also be online, so see it digitally if you’re remote.

‘Inflorescent’ Solo Exhibition at SALA 2023

I’m delighted to present my solo exhibition ‘Inflorescent‘ at this year’s SALA Festival. ‘Inflorescent’ will be shown from 4 August – 27 August at Hughes Gallery, Fullarton Park Community Centre, Fullarton, SA. This exhibition is generously supported by the City of Unley, as a result of my selection as a finalist in last year’s SALA City of Unley Active Ageing Award. Honourable Mention in Celia Rosser Award, TABI 2022

I’m humbled to be awarded an Honourable Mention in the Celia Rosser Award at the opening of the 16th Biennial exhibition of The Art of Botanical Illustration held by the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. My drawing of Pelargonium australe seed heads was also acquired for the State Botanical Collection, held in the National Herbarium of Victoria within the Melbourne Botanic Gardens.

Selected for The Art of Botanical Illustration 2022

I’m very pleased that 3 of my recent drawings have been selected for the prestigious exhibition, The Art of Botanical Illustration (TABI), held biennially by the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Work from around Australia and overseas will be shown in Domain House, Dallas Brookes Drive, adjacent to the Melbourne Botanic Gardens from 17 September until 2 October, 2022. Images of this collection will also form part of an online exhibition, together with art from other countries attending the 7th Global Botanical Gardens Congress hosted in September this year by the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. From 17 September all artwork can be viewed on the TABI webpage!
